As of today, all of our servers have been updated to LiteSpeed version 5.4. It has been in development since 2018, with the first release candidate build being released in January 2019. In July, it was pushed to the stable tier, and considered ready for production use.
So what is LiteSpeed?
LiteSpeed is commercial software, and essentially, it makes it possible for website content to be served to your browser (like Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox). There are a few different alternatives to LiteSpeed, including Apache, Nginx, and IIS. We use LiteSpeed due to the performance and security features it offers, allowing our client's websites to be online and loading fast around-the-clock.
Compared to other alternatives, LiteSpeed's simpler stack and intelligent cache give it an edge. With LiteSpeed's advanced built-in cache engine, you can eliminate the need for the HTTPS reverse proxies or additional third party caching layers required with Apache. Plus, LiteSpeed stores compressed cache files, where nginx does not.
We hope you enjoy your faster web hosting, and of course, we welcome any questions!
